Our Identity & Mission
Lozells Central Mosque is a state of the arts purpose-built mosque and community hub located in Birmingham.
Our mission is to serve as a welcoming place of worship, education and community engagement — fostering spiritual growth, social cohesion, and service to all in the local and wider community.
History & Development
Initially, Lozells Central Mosque was situated on Wills St, Lozells and was established by the locals of the area. In 1984, the site for a purpose built Lozells Central Mosque was with the intention of constructing a larger mosque to serve the Lozells community.
Construction of the purpose-built mosque began in May 1999 and was completed in 2010, offering a modern facility with capacity for over 4,000 people.
In 2016, Phase 2 of our expansion launched: a dedicated education centre for students was built, which was completed in 2018.
We have now embarked onto our Phase 3 Expansion which is now underway. This includes a 2 storey car park, expansion of the main prayer hall, a new education centre for girls, a multi-purpose hall and enhanced youth facilities.
